Granada: 15th International Wildlife Law Conference and EFFACE workshop

25 March 2015 to 27 March 2015

The 15th International Wildlife Law Conference was held in Granada, Spain, 26-27 March 2015. Organized by the University of Granada Faculty of Law, EFFACE, and Stetson University College of Law's Institute for Biodiversity Law, the conference brought together wildlife law experts from the governmental, NGO, and academic sectors. Papers were invited on wildlife law and policy, with an emphasis on enforcement issues.

The invited keynote speaker was Professor Dr Ludwig Krämer, a top expert on environmental law and policy in the EU. The Conference held several roundtables on: the concept of environmental crime; the different perspectives on environmental prosecutions; as well as compliance mechanisms in biodiversity agreements; sectorial approaches to protect biodiversity in challenging scenarios (e.g. the protection of biodiversity in the Artic or the protection of iconic species, etc.).

The papers presented have been considered for publication in the Journal of International Wildlife Law and Policy.

In addition, EFFACE  organised a workshop on the 25 March 2015 in Granada, where the EFFACE case studies were presented.

Results are summarised in a report: Making the case against Environmental Crime
